Unknown – Take Your Time (curatorial text)
Artistic practice extends far beyond physical contact with the artwork, unfolding over time through repeated, conscious acts of looking. As Władysław Strzemiński observed, visual art is spatiotemporal: seeing is not a single moment but an ongoing process in which successive gazes accumulate and merge. The ninth edition of UNKNOWN explores the structure of the artwork, experimenting with the language and history of painting. Moving beyond linearity and colour, this exhibition focuses on relief, texture, and three-dimensionality as new means of expression. Through layered paint, rhythmic lines, and the integration of diverse materials, artists such as Radim Koros, Samuel Kłoda, Tomek Baran, and Maciej Pęcak create structures that challenge our perception and the boundaries between painting and sculpture. Rather than offering a comprehensive survey, UNKNOWN proposes an open-ended dialogue in which artworks remain suspended in uncertainty, revealing new meanings with every encounter. The viewer may never be entirely certain of what they see, echoing an uncertainty that may already be embedded in the creative process itself. The essence lies in the unknown. Do not rush. Take your time.
